VRC is a Living Wage employer, we are committed to voluntarily ensuring our employees can all earn a wage that is enough to live on.

We display the Living Wage Employer Mark in recognition of our commitment to the Living Wage and are listed on the Living Wage Foundation website.

How They Got Started

The Living Wage Foundation was established in 2011 and grew from a Living Wage Campaign, which launched in 2001 by members of London Citizens, a community organisation which has since developed into the nationwide institution Citizens UK.

The Foundation publishes an annual Living Wage figure, accrediting employers who pay the Foundation’s definition of the living wage. For 2018/19 the UK Living Wage is £9.00 and £10.55 in London.

Their Mission

The Living Wage Campaign calls for every worker in the country to earn enough to provide their family with the essentials of life. They are the organisation at the heart of the independent movement of people campaigning for the idea that a hard day’s work deserves a fair day’s pay.

They celebrate and recognise the leadership of responsible employers who choose to go further and pay a real Living Wage based on the cost of living, not just the Government minimum.

Over 180,000 employees have received a pay rise due to the Living Wage campaign, it is the only UK wage rate voluntarily paid by over 5,000 businesses nationwide. The businesses who are part of the Foundation believe their staff deserve the right pay for the work they do.

The Foundation provides a forum for employers and service providers to publicly join the Living Wage Campaign, as well as working with Principal Partners to bring financial and strategic support to the Foundation. Every year, in November the organisation hosts a Living Wage Week to celebrate the Living Wage movement.
